Making art in our park

On one of the coldest days in April a dozen members of Art in the Park visited Arlington Square with their paints and easels. Despite the cold they were full of praise for the Square, reporting that ‘The garden looked immaculate, and the community maintenance effort is still continuing. An example to residents everywhere of what can be done.’

Before the cold stiffened their fingers too much and they retreated to the Hanbury to warm up, they produced some delightful drawings and watercolours, including Susan Klees’ painting above. You can see all the others on their blog makingartinthepark.blogspot.com.

Art in the Park meets about once a month. It is open to all and there is no charge for joining the group. It is the sketching group of Islington Art Society (IAS) and many park artists do go on to join the society. You can learn more at their website: islingtonartsociety.org.uk. If you’re interested in joining, email the secretary Helen Fuggle at iassecretaryhelen@gmail.com.
